PROGRAMS &
SERVICES
WRCSC programs and services are designed to serve
individuals from widely diverse educational and
socioeconomic backgrounds.
Peer Counseling
Peer Counseling is one of the most comprehensive
services provided by the Center.
Counseling is provided by volunteers trained in active
listening and community resources. Through honest and
confidential conversations, clients are encouraged to
explore new options in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
Peer counselors help clients identify their problems
objectively and connect them to other community resources to
achieve their goals.
Each year more than 1400 clients are served by peer
counselors through personal appointments or by telephone
consultation. Clients also find significant support through
participation in Entrepreneurial Skill Development provided by the Center.
Challenge
Challenge is the flagship service of the Center, It
is an intensive series of classes for women facing any
number of life transitions including job loss, health
issues, loss of a partner or simply being new to the area.
Curriculum includes topics such as self-esteem, stress
management, money management, wellness, goal setting and
communication skills. Through intense personal support in a
series of classes, Challenge participants gain confidence,
self-esteem, and the coping skills necessary to overcome
challenges they face resulting from divorce, loss of a
spouse, unemployment or any other life crisis or transition.
Challenge instructors guide participants through a process of self-discovery and renewal
helping each woman create a plan of action. Challenge
graduates take significant steps toward achieving career
success, emotional strength and financial self-sufficiency.
